We need you to help us convey the meaning of the word below in a video that’s 1 minute or less. Do it well and we’ll feature your video on Project ED and you’ll have a shot at the top prize!

Before you get started, here are the MUST-HAVEs for your video:

  • Your video must be no longer than one minute
  • You must use the definition provided below
  • You must display the word, part of speech, definition, and an example sentence on the screen at appropriate points during your video

Nonplussed (adjective) - being surprised and confused to the point of not knowing what to do

“Huh? Wha?! What is happening right now?!”

Have you ever had something so strange and surprising happen that you didn't know how to react? Congratulations, you know how it feels to be nonplussed! Nonplussed is an adjective that means being surprised and confused to the point of not knowing what to do.

The birthday girl could appear nonplussed after being surprised with a party. If a water-balloon unexpectedly lands on a man's head, and he doesn't know whether to laugh or cry, he may seem nonplussed. The sight of little green aliens who have landed their spaceship on your front lawn might leave you nonplussed

Pro Tip: Nonplussed comes from the Latin non plus, which means no more.
